National Rum Day Recap: A Quick List of All Things Rum from TSP

The Don Q Limon Madras

Some take Lemons and turn them into Lemonade. The thoughtfully intuitive people behind what has quickly become a staple in our kitchens & offices, Don Q Rums, instead have taken island Key Limes and turned them into Limon. Through a process of infusing tangy citrus and natural essential flavors to their aged Rums, a few sips will have you feeling like your on a tropical island with your feet in the sand enjoying the warm Sun rays.
If you’re a lover of the Cuba Libre or Mojito and you feel like elevating your game a few levels, try a few splashes of this in your next empty glass and see just what you have been missing. A winner of numerous awards, this Rum and everything else Don Q produces are what we call instant party in a bottle, something everyone should have in a cabinet somewhere in their house.

The Don Q Limon Madras –
Ingredients:
1 ½oz Don Q Limon
1 oz           Orange Juice
1 oz         Cranberry Juice
Crushed Ice & Cubed Ice
Drink Mixer
Chilled Rocks Glasses
½ Lemon cut into slices.

Directions:
Pour all of the ingredients minus the cubed ice in the drink mixer, cover and shake well until the drink mixer is cold to the touch.
Pour into a chilled Rocks Glass over cubed ice and garnish w/ a slice of Lemon.
Enjoy Responsibly.

Don Q Gran Anejo, A Must Have.

It is said that, “Aging mellows the Spirit, but never should it become dull.” Don Q Gran Anejo Rum is the epitomy of that very saying, in that its aged 12 years to create the perfect balance between the sweet and dry flavors that just aren’t found in everyday brands of Rum.

Gran Anejo is the kind of Rum, you sip neat or on the rocks and wont feel as if your drinking gasoline. Found at finer spirit distilleries and liquor stores of a grander nature, Don Q Gran Anejo is something you find on your uncles shelf, who just so happens to be a connoisseur of the finer things in life and has that bit of style you tried to imitate in your younger days, Classic all the way around.
Check out their website for more information on this great libation and all of the other incredible flavors they make:  www.DonQ.com

Drink Recipe of the Day: The Aveja Reina (Queen Bee)

The Aveja Reina or Queen Bee, is yet another superior cocktail recipe created by David Cordoba that combines vanilla, honey, lemon juice and smooth Bacardi® Gold Rum. Pour a few of these of up for your guests that prefer “girly” kind of drinks as we can’t hardly see your manliest of friends drinking anything that contains a cute little flower at the top.
Take our advice and find the Acacia Honey for this recipe. It blends so amazingly smooth with the Vanilla Syrup and wont create a funky flavor when combined with the Gold Rum and lemon Juice.
Enjoy Responsibly!

Ingredients:
2 parts Bacardi® Gold Rum
1 part Acacia Honey & Vanilla Syrup (found at most supermarkets)
1 part Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
Cubed Ice
Flowers to Garnish (cleaned off of course)

Directions:
Mix the Acacia Honey w/ Vanilla Syrup in the bottom of a drink mixer / shaker.
Pour in the rest of the ingredients, minus the garnish and top off with Cubed Ice.
Cover the mixer and shake until the mixer is freezing cold to the touch.

Garnish if so desired and enjoy the Queen Bee.

The Razz & Sprite

As August and the lovely heat wave that has decided to grace us with its presence continue to move on ahead towards National Rum Day, we decided to try out a drink that can be made with everyday ingredients that are commonly kept in every kitchen. Using Bacardi® Razz™, a few dashes of Sprite, some Limes and fresh Raspberries, we found that this drink will satisfy the thirst like no other on such a blazing day as the one we are about to experience.

National Rum Day: A Great Reason To Celebrate

Rum, the great distilled alcoholic beverage made from sugarcane by products such as molasses and sugarcane juice, is one of the greatest distillated drinks known to mankind. With the majority of the world’s Rum production being done in and around the Caribbean, many notable brands and flavors are produced in various countries around the world creating some significantly deep and unique flavors found in a bottle.

Countries such as the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Cuba, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and the Philippines produce the most notable flavors found on the market today.  A complex beverage that has both fueled many a wonderful evening and raging wars over its production and distribution, this drink earned itself its very own National Holiday. Ladies and Gentlemen please give a warm welcome to National Rum Day!
