Hot Buttered Bacardi (Recipe)

With the heat crushing your desire to go outside, now is the time to try new things indoors with old friends. Our affinity for fine libations knows no limits and lately we have been trying things that we might’ve looked over previously just because of the nature of such a mixed drink. When it comes to certain drinks, much like bad news we like it straight and well occasionally over ice too. As soon as the temperatures drop in the evening, the best way to warm up besides human contact is to drink incredibly delicious concoctions.
Check out the Hot Buttered Bacardi recipe below and prepare to enjoy yourself.

Ingredients:
1 part Bacardi Gold Rum
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp butter
4 whole cloves

Directions:
Combine ingredients in a mug

Fill with boiling water, stir and enjoy (don't swallow the cloves obviously)

Grilled Chicken Tostaditas w/ Queso Fresco, Charred Tomatillos & The Supreme Bacardi & Ginger Ale

We vowed to start off 2013 on a healthy note and we have been doing fairly well in our test kitchens, what about you? No worries if you haven’t, the year is still young and we have plenty of ideas to help keep you on track while still enjoying the most of each and every day.

Today’s ROTD: Grilled Chicken Tostaditas w/ Queso Fresco is a play on a recipe we picked up at a local Spanish restaurant that makes the most amazing Queso Fresco & Charred Tomatillos in house you could ever imagine having. For this version we chose to use skinless breasts, but should you prefer to use boneless skinless thighs they work just as well if not better than breasts.

Also included is an incredible drink that pairs perfectly with this meal in the form of a classic Rum & Ginger Ale, a delicious drink that’s not so strong that it takes away from the marvelous flavor of your meal.

Enjoy!!

Drink Recipe of the Day: The Aveja Reina (Queen Bee)

The Aveja Reina or Queen Bee, is yet another superior cocktail recipe created by David Cordoba that combines vanilla, honey, lemon juice and smooth Bacardi® Gold Rum. Pour a few of these of up for your guests that prefer “girly” kind of drinks as we can’t hardly see your manliest of friends drinking anything that contains a cute little flower at the top.
Take our advice and find the Acacia Honey for this recipe. It blends so amazingly smooth with the Vanilla Syrup and wont create a funky flavor when combined with the Gold Rum and lemon Juice.
Enjoy Responsibly!

Ingredients:
2 parts Bacardi® Gold Rum
1 part Acacia Honey & Vanilla Syrup (found at most supermarkets)
1 part Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
Cubed Ice
Flowers to Garnish (cleaned off of course)

Directions:
Mix the Acacia Honey w/ Vanilla Syrup in the bottom of a drink mixer / shaker.
Pour in the rest of the ingredients, minus the garnish and top off with Cubed Ice.
Cover the mixer and shake until the mixer is freezing cold to the touch.
Strain the drink only one time into a chilled Highball Glass filled with ice.
Garnish if so desired and enjoy the Queen Bee.

The Razz & Sprite

As August and the lovely heat wave that has decided to grace us with its presence continue to move on ahead towards National Rum Day, we decided to try out a drink that can be made with everyday ingredients that are commonly kept in every kitchen. Using Bacardi® Razz™, a few dashes of Sprite, some Limes and fresh Raspberries, we found that this drink will satisfy the thirst like no other on such a blazing day as the one we are about to experience.
The great thing about this drink is the Lime & Raspberry combo really plays well with the Rum, leaving it not too strong, not too sweet.
Enjoy the Razz & Sprite Responsibly.

Ingredients:
2 parts Bacardi® Razz™
4 parts Sprite (or other Lemon Lime Soda that you prefer)
Fresh Raspberries (washed thoroughly and dried)

Limón Y Iced Tea

Say it with us, “Simplicity is key.” Not every libation needs 30 ingredients, many of which you have never heard of, nor want to buy to let go to waste until your next party, that’s just a sin. The Limón & Ice Tea cocktail is the kind of drink your Grandmother would call a Summertime delight and your friends would devour by the jug if they hung around our offices.

Quick, easy, delicious and thirst quenching, this drink is perfect for the heat wave the Nation is expected to experience over the next week.
Enjoy Responsibly.

Ingredients:
2 parts Bacardi® Limón
4 parts Freshly made Iced Tea

Directions:
Fill a chilled glass with ice.
Squeeze 2 Lemon wedges into the glass.
Pour Bacardi® Limón then the Iced Tea over the ice and stir until combined.
Enjoy.

Un Clasico - aka "Watermelon Sangria"

It sometimes can be said that less is more. In this instance, a drink that requires more than one or two ingredients will leave your guests saying one common thing “AMAZING.” Make this drink and test the ratios to make sure you can handle them as some people have a low tolerance for mixed libations. This drink, known as the “Un Clasico” is in honor of National Watermelon Day.

A little known fact is that in Argentina it used to be considered suicide to mix Watermelon with Red Wine, boy are we glad they were wrong and that master Mixologist DAVID CORDOBA, came up with this recipe as his homage to Sangria.
Enjoy this one responsibly, it is no joke.

Ingredients:
1.5 parts Bacardi® Superior Rum
1.5 parts Cognac
½  part Licor 43 (click the link to lean more about Licor 43)
1 part Red Wine mixed with ½ part Simple Syrup
1 wheel cut slice of Watermelon (a slice of watermelon about 1.5 inches thick with the rind removed)
Cubed Ice
3 fine Slices of Watermelon to garnish

Directions:
Cut up the wheel of Watermelon into cubes put in a drink mixer and muddle well.
Add all of the remaining ingredients including ice, cover and shake until the mixer is cold to the touch.
Double strain into a chilled glass, full with ice.
Garnish with 3 slices of Watermelon.

Between The Sheets

Listen, we are for the most part a simple group over here, but every so often we like to complicate things and order drinks or food that just isn’t that easy to make all for the fun of it. When making anything in life whether it be music, a meal or a drink you need to carefully select everything that goes into, as the final results can make or break a few days of your life. Listening to timeless groups performing their classics while cooking always makes the meal that much more enjoyable in my opinion. That being said, try cooking a steak and lobster dinner for your loved one while listening to The Isley Brothers and see just how effortlessly you glide around the kitchen. And while were on the subject of the Isley’s let us get to part 3 in our 3 part segment of Rum Flavored Libations for the day, the Between The Sheets a mixture of Bacardi® Superior Rum, Cognac, Triple Sec & Lemon Juice. If you can’t follow up on a surefire lead off hitter like the Between The Sheets, maybe you need to give up now.
Enjoy!

Ingredients:
1 part Bacardi® Superior Rum
1 part Cognac (preferably Remy Martin or Hennessy)
1 part Triple Sec
1 part Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
A few dashes of Simply Syrup
Cubed Ice
Orange Zest to Garnish
Drink Mixer / Shaker (w/ a strainer)
A Frozen Cocktail Glass

Directions:
Pour all of the ingredients (minus the Orange Zest) into the mixer / shaker.
Pour in some ice, close tightly and shake until the mixer is cold to the touch.
Double strain into the frozen cocktail glass.
Garnish w/ Orange Zest

Enter The Dragon

A drink to keep you on point and not sloppy is what you need when the temperatures begin to skyrocket in these last few weeks of Summer.
Enjoy!

3 parts Bacardi® Dragon Berry flavored Rum
1 part Ginger Ale
Cubed Ice
Chilled Rocks Glass
1 Lime (washed, cut in half then again into wedges for a garnish)

Directions:
Put as much ice as you desire in a chilled Rocks Glass.

Stir with a straw or swizzle stick.

Bacardi, Changing The Libation Game One Flavor At A Time

Just in time to cap off your summer entertaining, BACARDI® – the world’s favorite and best-selling premium rum and the world’s most awarded rum– introduces its latest flavor innovation, BACARDI® TORCHED CHERRY™.  Combining the rich, bold taste of Barbados cherries with the light, smooth infusion of Torch Plant aloe, BACARDI TORCHED CHERRY flavored rum is a refreshing spirit with a distinguished taste. Furthering the brand’s long-term commitment to providing the best offerings of premium rums, BACARDI TORCHED CHERRY follows the successful introduction in 2009 of BACARDI® DRAGON BERRY™.

An innovator in the spirits industry for more than a century, BACARDI is the first brand to introduce this flavor profile to its rums. Torch Plant aloe is a succulent, nectar-rich ingredient indigenous to South Africa.  It pairs ideally with Barbados cherries, also known as Acerola, a fruit that has recently received considerable attention for its versatility and sweet, robust flavor.

BACARDI® TORCHED CHERRY Burnt Berry
1 part BACARDI TORCHED CHERRY Flavored Rum
1-1/2 parts SPRITE

Pour ingredients over ice and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

“In the fast-changing world of flavors our goal is to meet consumers’ needs for popular flavors that deliver an exotic twist at an accessible price,” said Gordon Chisholm, Brand Director, BACARDI Flavored Rums. “Building on the enormous success of last year’s BACARDI DRAGON BERRY introduction, BACARDI TORCHED CHERRY delivers infusion-based and industry-first flavor combinations and is a fresh, dynamic spirit that can be enjoyed alone or in a variety of cocktails.”
