Food Tattoos On The Move

Wednesday had us out and about in the greatest Farmers Market that exists, the original LA Brea Farmers Market on Fairfax, where because of the intense heat (which in LA is nothing in comparison to what you will find in the Inland Empire) we had to make a quick pit stop at our favorite ice cream spot, Bennetts. Struck up a quick convo with a young employee who had a fresh Ice Cream Cone tatted on his arm (much better than the one that adorns Gucci Mane’s or his two stupid fans who copied him faces) and for that he deserved some love on the site.

Should you ever be in the area make sure to stop by and either try the Lemon Sorbet or an authentic Root Beer Float, either way you can’t lose.

Cherries Jubilee Made At Home

Cherries Jubilee Made At Home.
Sometimes the ingredients we choose to use need a little sprucing up before we can actually consume them how we want too. In this case, the cherries we are using to make our Homemade Cherries Jubilee need to be flambéed (or set on fire) to bring them together perfectly with the Vanilla Ice Cream.
Be careful when trying to make this dish at home, its not overly hard to do, but if you have had a few drinks or aren’t familiar with the technique, when the fire does finally catch onto the alcohol, it may surprise you and we’d hate for you to get burned before you get to enjoy your hard work.
Enjoy this tonight when your kids get home from school or by yourself while everyone is gone, we’re sure you deserve some ice cream after a long hard weekend.

Cognac Root Beer Floats - A Great Summertime Treat For Grownups.

Let us enjoy the warmth of the Sun, the conversation of good company and the smiles of our loved ones as the day turns into a beautiful evening. It may be Monday, but any day can be turned into a good memory, with the right ingredients. Pour up a few of these Grown Up Root Beer Floats and Enjoy the moment.

Ingredients
1 Orange
1 oz Heavy Cream
2.5 oz Bourbon or Cognac (preferably Hennessy Black)
2 dashes Orange Bitters (sold at most liquor stores and major grocery stores)
¾ cup Root Beer
1 heaping scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream (optional)

Directions:
Use a vegetable peeler to remove a long piece of zest from the orange, working your way around the fruit.
Combine the bourbon and bitters in a tall glass.
Twist the orange zest over the glass to release the oils, then drop it in.
Fill the glass halfway with ice.
Add the scoop of ice cream, if using.
Add the root beer.
Slowly pour the cream over the back of a spoon into the glass so it floats on top.

Creamy Cherry Popsicles w/ Greek Yogurt and a Chocolate Shell

Ok this one I couldn’t go without posting, this here is our Ultimate Popsicle Recipe, that puts fresh Cherries, creamy Vanilla Greek Yogurt and Milk Chocolate all together in one handy treat.

With today still being National Cherry Popsicle Day and Otter Pops not really cutting it anymore we figured we would hit you off with one more recipe that can cool anyone down and put a smile on any face, even with a Hurricane pounding at your door.

The great thing about this popsicle recipe is that it uses Greek Yogurt, so it is truly a healthy snack. A lot of people have been asking us for recipes to incorporate Fresh Fruit and Greek Yogurt, so we figured this is the perfect time to put the two together seeing as how it is going to be well over 100 degrees in many spots across the country.

This recipe for Cherry Popsicles with a Chocolate Shell is nothing to fool around with.
Be sure to stash one in the freezer for yourself, because they always go fast and someone always wants two.

Enjoy!

Ice Cream Soda, All Grown up.

Summertime hits and everyone goes into slim & trim mode trying to get themselves looking right before the end of the season arrives. Usually people realize its too damn hot to be running around and working out, so they give up and go back to trying to staying cool while drinking lots of cold libations to stay fueled up.

A great treat that can be made at home for a fraction of the cost of what you find them for at stores is the always classic “Ice Cream Soda” not to be confused with the Rootbeer Float.

Today June 30th, is National Ice Cream Soda Day.
Take a few moments, take yourself back your childhood and make a few of these for yourself and the kids.

If the Ice Cream Soda is going to be for yourself, kick it up a notch with a few dashes of flavored rum such as Bacardi Dragon Berry or any one of the million flavors offered up by Malibu.

Either way, enjoy this drink today, tomorrow and over the weekend when the temperatures are expected to reach 100.

Whatever you choose to do, do it responsibly.
