Introducing the Kuro Ninja Burger from BK Japan

Burger King Japan will be releasing the “Kuro Ninja Burger” or Black Ninja Burger on October 25, much to the bacon lovers of the worlds delight. In 2012 BK Japan introduced the Premium Kuro Burger, which featured a charcoal and tea smoked bun & squid ink flavored black ketchup which sold like crazy and made for some pretty interesting hash tags and headlines in the foodie world. This time around BK Japan has added a colossal sized slab of bacon and a hash brown patty to the mix and will be selling it for roughly $7 or $8 bucks.

Chapter One: The Modern Local in Santa Ana, CA

When you watch someone work diligently through many ups & downs while chasing after their dreams and eventually see them get the recognition they so rightfully deserve, you can’t help but smile. Jason Montelibano, Executive Chef at Chapter One: The Modern Local is the kind of guy you want touching all over your food. Not in some perverse kind of way, but simply because Chef Montelibano has an affinity for putting together insanely delectable dishes using only the highest of quality ingredients.

Whether your snacking on Chapter Ones delicious Salmon Croquettes, Scotch Eggs, Lamb & Gnocchi or sharing some Panna Cotta w/ homemade Boba, you wont be let down.
Located at 227 N. Broadway in Santa Ana, CA (714) 352-2225, Chapter One is housed in an ex book store, giving it that old world, nostalgic feel, while exuding a cool factor unseen in the OC area for quite some time. True Orange County has thousands of cool spots to hang out and people watch, but who wants to watch people when the food & drinks are so damn good?

When a staff can pull together too actually feel like they are family and your servers face is beaming with pride and joy as they place an exquisitely designed dish before you, you know you have made the right decision to call this your new local watering hole, speakeasy or after work debauchery starting point, whatever you may call it, this place couldn't be any “righter” with us.

Check out Chapter One: A Modern Local at www.ChapterOneTML.com or give em a call at (714) 352-2225 they are open daily until 2am & be sure to tell Chef Montelibano aka Big Chicken Wang, The Supreme Plate is proud of your continued success.

Busta Rhymes Flips Out in Miami Over His Hamburger....

Busta Rhymes is no stranger to controversy. He has over the years been involved in fist fights, shootouts that left his bodyguard & close friend slain and more recently got caught up yelling at homosexuals and business owners because of their inability to serve him his hamburger as he so ordered. Reportedly Mr. Smith had the police called on him for yelling obscenities at Stephanie Vitori & her staff at late night Miami hangout Cheeseburger Baby when his burger arrived with ketchup, salt, pepper and mayo on the side (something Cheeseburger Baby does with every order, to prevent soggy buns.) After calling Vitori and her employees a series of “F*gs & B!tches” Bussa Buss down something left the scene with his burger in tow. Vitori, a lesbian said she has hosted thousands of late night customers, many of whom are celebrities and has never felt so “degraded.”

Last time I got a good look at Busta Rhymes, he seemed to be back in the gym and on his get in shape grind, which means he most likely is back on his no bullshit practices. People want to say he is on steroids, but I refuse to speculate on that. A while back a video surfaced where Pharrell was talking about how Busta Rhymes was unwilling to talk to legendary & now openly gay rapper Afrika Baby Bambaataa (of Jungle Brothers fame) because of his mode of dress and overtly gay mannerisms. Many people speculate that his over the top comments are due to his feelings being hurt that his ex girlfriend who is the mother of his 3 children is now a lesbian. Whatever the reasons may be for his wildin’, get it together Busta, cause no one wants to see you in jail or broke from the lawsuits these kinds of things can bring about.

On The Move: Slaters 50/50

Slaters 50/50 is one of the places we will be giving you a thorough update on and very soon. Our resident fat man in the streets #Fatnando has deemed this place as currently holding the Holy Grail of Hamburgers. In his own words he stated that “the Slaters 50/50 peanut Butter & Jellousy is a burger that features a 1/3 lb patty consisting of Sterling Silver Ground Beef, topped with Thick Cut Bacon, Creamy Peanut Butter & Strawberry Jelly on a Honey Wheat Bun. Separating real adventurous foodies from the faint of heart, this burger had me in full attack mode, resulting in a full term food baby, complete satisfaction and a newfound respect for the homie Kory who put me up on game about this amazing burger.”

Look for more to come in the next week or two as we head back out on the road for more good grub worthy or gracing our pages.

The Food Holidays of December 2012

December has finally arrived and with in a few weeks it will be 2013. We have had a great time this year meeting new people, hitting up events to donate our time to worthy causes and simply being a part of something much bigger than just ourselves. This time of year is hard for many people, because it brings back many memories of loved ones who are no longer with us, or who are suffering through some very hard times.

We wish that everyone who takes the time to read our site, whether it be for recipes, products or to point and laugh knows how much they mean to us. If it weren’t for our readers sometimes we might’ve lost our way our damn selves, so thank you for keeping us on track. But whatever you do, don’t let the sad moments overpower the great joys that still can be had in life, December is home to some great holidays both of the food and religious nature and it also brings about New Years eve, the day we all lie to ourselves and set goals we don’t really want to keep.
Whatever gets you through these next 4 weeks, whether it be the bottle or the love of friends and family, know that we are right there with you in spirit.

2012 saw a lot of advancements happen for our site and our brand. We can’t wait for 2013 to kick off so we can start producing even bigger and better travel pieces, product reviews and recipes.
From all of us over at TSP, we wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas, a joyous Hanukkah, a beautiful Kwanzaa, a prosperous Ashura, an enlightening Bodhi Day and above all else, a healthy and happy New Year.

Much Love

Who You Callin' A Jerk? Jamaican Jerk Turkey Burgers & Mango Slaw

Who you callin’ a Jerk?
Jerk seasoning is one of those slept on things that numerous people are scared of because they think it must be insanely hot or spicy. Truth be told the flavors that combined to make Jerk Seasoning are commonly found spices that most of have in our pantries, we just never thought to combined them in this fashion.

Allspice (or Pimento as its called in Jamaica,) Scotch Bonnet Peppers, Cloves, Cinnamon, Scallions, Nutmeg, Thyme, Garlic, Salt and Pepper weave together to create a sensation that both your nostrils, mouth and stomach will not soon forget. Truly aromatic and pleasing in its smell this flavor lends itself well to pork, chicken, shrimp, beef, turkey, shellfish, fish and most amazingly Tofu.

Using the Jerk Seasoning in this case with the ground turkey creates a deep set of earthy flavors that go well with a side or macaroni salad or a plate of fresh sliced fruits drizzled in a little honey or Chile & Lime Salt.

Enjoy this recipe with a cold Red Stripe Beer, Rum & Coke or Sweet Tea.

Umami Monkey

Cheddar-apple pie

Umami Monkey

A sneakily savory new dessert

To name your restaurant after a given taste is to stake a serious claim.

At his ever-growing Umami Burger empire, Adam Fleischman has stayed true to his signature flavor--from the eponymous burger to Umami's other meat-and-bun creations.

But where does umami, defined by its singular savoriness, fit into a dessert menu?

Local baking outfit Cake Monkey has the answer. Since the beginning of the month, all Umami locations have been serving the bakery's take on the ideal follow-up to the all-American burger: apple pie (pictured; $6).

Known for its playful takes on Pop Tarts, Sno Balls and other such confections, Cake Monkey's sweets often sound like what mom might have made if she carried a dispensary card; this pie follows suit.

The dough is made by cutting butter into flour, then mixing in umami-rich shards of Cabot Creamery cheddar cheese. This leaves the crust tasting something like a Cheez-It--and we mean that in the best of ways.

Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples are deeply caramelized before being baked into the crust, recalling a tarte Tatin. Apple cider jelly, brown butter and vanilla bean are the finishing touches to the predominantly tart filling.

Let's hope umami continues to encroach on sugar's reign over dessert.
