Birdseye View
In 1925 his
General Seafood Corporation moved to Gloucester, Massachusetts. There it
employed Birdseye's newest invention, the double belt freezer, in which cold
brine chilled a pair of stainless steel belts carrying packaged fish, freezing
the fish quickly. His invention was subsequently issued as US Patent
#1,773,079, marking the beginning of today's frozen foods industry. Birdseye
took out patents on other machinery, which cooled even more quickly, so that
only small ice crystals could form and cell membranes were not damaged. In 1927
he began to extend the process beyond fish to quick-freezing of meat, poultry,
fruit, and vegetables.
In 1929,
Birdseye sold his company and patents for $22 million to Goldman
Sachs and the Postum
Company, which eventually became General Foods Corporation, and which
founded the Birds
Eye Frozen Food
Company.
Birdseye continued to work with the company, further developing frozen
food technology. In 1930 the company began sales experiments in 18 retail
stores around Springfield, Massachusetts, to test
consumer acceptance of quick-frozen foods. The initial product line featured 26
items, including 18 cuts of frozen meat, spinach and peas, a variety of fruits
and berries, blue point oysters, and fish fillets. Consumers liked the new
products and today this is considered the birth of retail frozen foods. The
"Birds Eye" name remains a leading frozen-food brand. [source: wikipedia]

The Food Holidays of January 2013
2013 looks to be “that year” for many people.
The time has come for the public to take back their lives and return to what
the true meaning of life is all about, helping those that are in need. 2012 saw
many just as many tragedies as it did triumphs. The cold fact that people need
to support each other and have each other’s backs, rings true now more than
ever. Diet trends may come and go, but eating healthy should always be a high
priority for us all.
We want to thank everyone who graced us with a visit to
the site, whether it be for a recipe or to point at laugh at the foolishness
that is taking place over here, we appreciate your love. Thanks for all the
comments and suggestions from our readers as well who let us know in 2012, they
want even more recipes, more reviews and even more ideas on how to make the
most out of a vacation even when the budget doesn’t want you to try.
As we always say, we are just happy to be here,
to be able to serve you these delicious and hopefully at times, thought
provoking pieces that keep bringing you back to the most important place in any
home… The Kitchen.
That being said check out all of the wonderful

Light & Easy, Lobster Po' Boy Sandwich
The taste
of fresh seafood awakens my senses, almost to the point that I can never really
get enough of it. Of course I won’t sit here and say I am the biggest seafood
eating monster on the planet, because there are still a few things that I just
wont or cant bring myself to consume (at least not without a bunch of strong
drinks.) But Lobster, the lovable little non huggable creatures they are, well
to me they can do no wrong. From serving them broiled with lemon and drawn
butter to frying them up for a po’ boy sandwich it can be said, these babies
are versatile.
Enough with
the talking though and let us get down to the nitty gritty. Today we are
showing you how to make a delicious Lobster Po’ Boy w/o frying it, so you don’t
have to feel guilty or clean up an extra mess.
Get to cooking those lobsters so
you can enjoy these sandwiches ASAP.
