National Cashew Day...

In Honor of my Godmother, Aunt & Friend... Aunt Diane you will always be missed. We eat this pizza in your memory.

Pear & Bleu Cheese Salad w/ Cashews

Thanksgiving is a few days away and for many people that is reason enough to overeat, or eat everything in site like they were fresh home from doing a decade on a deserted island. Whatever your reasons may be for devouring multiple plates like it was your last meal, consider the fact that you may want to prepare your stomach for all that you are about to consume in the days ahead.

Introducing a bit of regularity in your life is a good thing when it comes to promoting intestinal health. Salads are the perfect super food to help keep you running like a well-oiled machine while expending a lot of energy and if you add a piece of protein such as Chicken or Salmon you will have the ultimate healthy meal.

Today being National Cashew Day, Enjoy a huge bag of Nuts with your loved ones, or let your loved ones enjoy your bag of nuts. I am sure it will be a fun time for everyone involved.

Recipe Of The Day: Quinoa Pilaf w/ Crimini Mushrooms

Quinoa is one of those side dishes that kids love because of the texture and adults stray away from because they don’t know how to cook it. Because Quinoa is actually a seed and not a grain as many people presume it to be, you can cook it numerous different ways and still enjoy its healthy attributes.
Quick, easy and able to go alongside anything from Pan Seared Fish to Roasted Chicken or my favorite Fried Shrimp, Quinoa might quickly become a staple in your diet after you try this dish.
Enjoy!

We Ain't Never Lost Our Mojo...

National Fast Food Day

Far be it from me to say that eating Fast Food is wrong. As a matter of fact, today is National Fast Food Day, which usually results in a few double doubles being ordered up from In & Out or at the very least a 20 piece chicken McNuggets box to hold us over during the day. We here at The Supreme Plate, don’t always condone eating the crap that comes from most fast food spots but today we are going to say do as you please, you only live once and you deserve to snack on the staples that got you this far in life.
With that said, eat up, tear up a few pizzas, some chicken wings,  Big Mac’s, Whoppers, Crawfish Baskets (Popeyes is always good in our eyes,) or whatever your heart desires we won’t hold it against you.
Do you remember these classics?...

Recipe Of The Day: Peanut Butter & Jelly Sundae

Nothing takes you back to childhood faster than eating grown up versions of the classics you used to tear down on the daily. Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches, Bowls of Cereal by the boatload and Candy all come to mind when I think of the staples I kept close by as a kid.
Well today is National Sundae Day & we wanted to take you on a trip back to your youthful days, but also put a bit of a twist on this recipe to keep from feeling like your eating the same ol’ tired thing.

This PB & J Sundae is something we stumbled onto at a restaurant in Long Beach, CA actually and figured we needed to do this more often at our own spot.  Thanks to Sunnie Anderson for giving up the low down on this simple recipe.
This even goes down perfect w/ a cold glass of sweet Moscato wine.
Enjoy National Sundae Day!

Recipe Of The Day: Fried Ravioli

During the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving many people avoid eating anything heavy simply to save room for the massive amount of goodies they will surely be eating during the numerous feasts most of us have to attend.
Simple dishes during these times are things we should all turn too, such as Fried Ravioli, which will fill you up, keep you warm and still feeling light on your feet.

When the weather makes such a drastic change towards the colder temperatures, people tend to forget to take things to keep themselves warm oftentimes resulting in their getting sick. This dish right here is a sure fire hit because it hits the right spot, keeps you warm and tastes delicious. Nothing warms up the soul better than something perfectly fried that didn’t require to much work to put together.

It should take you no longer than 20 or 30 mins to make to make this entire dish so enjoy it this evening with a cold glass of Moscato.

The National Food Holidays of November

As we round out the last two months left in 2011, we have to thank a lot of people who have helped to have gotten us thus far, for without them, their dedication to our dreams and hopes and of course their love, we would not have made it to this point. We also must sadly remember those that we have lost and hope that peace is with them on the other side. This year, November will be the ultimate month for changes in scenery, weather and attitude in many people.

As the East Coast can attest too, the warm Sun rays we have been enjoying all year have already faded and it is time to start bundling ourselves up with our loved ones and some good food while drinking some strong libations to get the cold out of our systems (Don't Drink & Drive WE DO NOT CONDONE THAT.)

The Amount of food that is made in the month of November far outweighs almost every other month of the year. This year do the right thing and make something for someone less fortunate, or suffering hard times who just can't find the strength or desire to cook a good meal. Your doing more than you know, simply just by giving someone a warm meal.
