Fresh Whipped Cream & Strawberries... (National Strawberries & Creme Day)

Today is National Strawberries & Cream Day, which works out perfectly for us. Ya see we love strawberries, we love cream and with the temperature reaching 80 before 10:00am we know its going to be a long hot day, so what better to eat to keep yourself cool?

Strawberries (which aren’t hard to grow in your own backyard) are healthy for you, loaded with vitamins, minerals, healthy lipids and amino acids. Strawberries also contain the naturally produced chemical fisetin, an antioxidant that helps prevent kidney failure, resulting from diabetes as well as has been used in Alzheimer’s  Disease studies.

Toasted Angel Food Cake w/ Grilled Peaches

We are all about being honest here at The Supreme Plate. So let us be honest, it is not always in someone’s best interest to attempt to make all of the required dishes for a party, plus the desserts by themselves without a little help or planning. Have you ever found yourself cooking for a group of people, working meticulously with your time, only to find that there isn’t enough of it and something will not be getting made?

Today being National Angel Food Cake Day, we wanted to make a dessert that uses an actual Angel Food Cake, but in a way many would never think of trying to eat it.

Our Recipe Of The Day is Toasted Angel Food Cake w/ Grilled Peaches and it is something that must be tried out in every household, especially with Thanksgiving waiting right around the corner.

To take the pain out of having to first make the cake, we are going to substitute in a classic Duncan Hines box mix (for those of you who know how to make an Angel Food Cake with no hassles from scratch by all means use your recipe) to eliminate a good hour or so worth of work.

The greatest part about this recipe is the Grilled Peaches. Make sure to have your grill hot and ready, plus oiled up so that the peaches don’t stick to it. After a few minutes on each side those Peaches are going to look and smell so wonderful you might not let em even make to the plate to be served with the cake.

Enjoy!

Homemade Strawberry Margaritas

Just in time for the weekend, the weather is finally starting to warm up and  resemble what we call Summertime here in California. I am starting to think that like most people I know, the weather here has become bi-polar and will act however it feels at any given moment.

Today being May 20th means that it is National Pick Strawberries Day, so we figured we would hit you with a recipe we know will make any afternoon get together or weekend function come to life like a shot of adrenaline straight to the chest.

Margaritas at a house party these days are as common as finding someone passed out in a corner or someone spilling something on your carpet and hiding it from you, either way you view it, it simply means people were getting tore up and having a good time.

The 6 ingredients this recipe calls for are commonly found around the house, ok well at least at our house and unless you live in Utah can be found at any store at any given time of day.

Enjoy these drinks with some chicken fajitas and Spanish rice, that’s how it should be done.
