A Thing of Beauty.

To me, this is a thing of beauty. A large bowl of Oysters, Shrimp, Stone Crab Claws, Mussels & Lemon, which should be slathered in hot sauce and enjoyed alongside a cold hand crafted libation. Happy Saturday Everyone.

Up Close & Personal w/ a Soft Shell Crab

Callinectes sapidus (from the Greek calli- = "beautiful", nectes = "swimmer", and Latin sapidus = "savory"), the blue crab,Atlantic blue crab, or regionally as the Chesapeake blue crab, is a species of crab native to the waters of the western Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, and introduced internationally.
C. sapidus is of significant culinary and economic importance in the United States, particularly in Louisiana and in theChesapeake Bay
It is the Maryland state crustacean and is the state's largest commercial fishery.

Before we carefully bread these beauties and lay em out on a foot long Po’ Boy, we wanted to show you just what a Soft Shell Crab actually looks like. Nature creates some amazingly beautiful & delicious things doesn't it? Enjoy your day Ladies & Gentlemen.

Knife Wielding Chef Chases Dine & Dasher at Chiba Sushi in Canada

Chiba Sushi, Victoria BC.
A sushi chef from Victoria, Canada's Chiba Sushi was not about to let a dine-and-dasher get away with his crime: according to the Vancouver Sun, Ivan Eng chased a man down the road who skipped out on his $64 check "for several minutes" before the police intervened. Oh, and he was carrying his sushi knife the whole time.
Eng chased the man, who turned out to be a serial offender, for a few blocks, telling passing cars to call 911. Police apparently told Eng that next time he should not bring the knife with him when pursuing a criminal, which is probably a good idea. Eng told the Sun he "trusts [the thief] won't come in for dinner again."

Finding Heaven in the City of Sin: Ferraro's Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar, Las Vegas

Moments shared over an astounding meal seem to provide memories that can last a lifetime. First dates much like a perfectly prepared meal should be savored, flowing smoothly from start to finish without any distractions. A first date or an important business meeting can quickly turn sour, should some unscrupulous food make its way into the mix. Be honest with yourself, not too many things can compare to sitting in an intimate location, looking into the eyes of someone you find yourself hopelessly falling for, eating bite after delicious bite of handmade old-world gourmet faire.

World renowned for its never ending, over the top excesses in all categories of life, the Las Vegas Strip draws foodies, thrill seekers, gamblers and lovers in by the millions annually.  And what better way to keep your guests stuck at the gambling tables than by stuffing them with delicacies created by big name celebrity Chefs? The problem with many of the new eateries helmed by these über Chefs becomes not only getting a reservation but, eating creations that resemble outer space creatures instead of delicious food. Not to say pushing the culinary envelope isn’t needed in this day and age, we strongly believe that taking things to the next level will help elevate everyone’s palates. But what about those nights when you want a dish that was created a few hundred years ago and can only be found in select regions further away than you’re willing to travel? In steps a place like Ferraro’s, an Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar that hands down has everyone beat on the strip when it comes to dishing out authentic Italian cuisine.

Recipe Of The Day: Caribbean Beef Stew

When we returned from Turks & Caicos we found ourselves craving three things, Jerked Chicken, Slow Cooked Spicy Beef & Strong Rum Drinks. I recently stopped by a favorite spot I frequent in Hollywood that makes some of the best authentic Jamaican food to be found on the West Coast.
I was talking to the Chef and he told me that his secret was slow cooking the beef with a hint of allspice, sugar and cumin.

The spices the Chef told me about added to the broth an amazingly dark color and a flavor that words could do no justice too when describing its taste. We’ve worked on the format over the last few months and feel that this Slow Cooked Spicy Beef recipe is something that needs to be shared.
Enjoy!
