The Brandy Alexander

January 31st is National Brandy Alexander Day. Being that its an old school drink that doesn’t receive the proper attention it deserves in this day & age we figured we would help to enlighten everyone about what exactly this drink is.
The Brandy Alexander is a sweet, brandy based cocktail consisting of Cognac and Crème de Cacao that became popular in the early 20th century. It is a play or variation of an earlier, gin based cocktail that was simply called an Alexander.

Between The Sheets

Listen, we are for the most part a simple group over here, but every so often we like to complicate things and order drinks or food that just isn’t that easy to make all for the fun of it. When making anything in life whether it be music, a meal or a drink you need to carefully select everything that goes into, as the final results can make or break a few days of your life. Listening to timeless groups performing their classics while cooking always makes the meal that much more enjoyable in my opinion. That being said, try cooking a steak and lobster dinner for your loved one while listening to The Isley Brothers and see just how effortlessly you glide around the kitchen. And while were on the subject of the Isley’s let us get to part 3 in our 3 part segment of Rum Flavored Libations for the day, the Between The Sheets a mixture of Bacardi® Superior Rum, Cognac, Triple Sec & Lemon Juice. If you can’t follow up on a surefire lead off hitter like the Between The Sheets, maybe you need to give up now.
Enjoy!

Ingredients:
1 part Bacardi® Superior Rum
1 part Cognac (preferably Remy Martin or Hennessy)
1 part Triple Sec
1 part Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
A few dashes of Simply Syrup
Cubed Ice
Orange Zest to Garnish
Drink Mixer / Shaker (w/ a strainer)
A Frozen Cocktail Glass

Directions:
Pour all of the ingredients (minus the Orange Zest) into the mixer / shaker.
Pour in some ice, close tightly and shake until the mixer is cold to the touch.
Double strain into the frozen cocktail glass.
Garnish w/ Orange Zest

The Grand Marnier Root Beer Float

Its hot outside, I know it is regardless of where you live it is most likely hotter than you would like it to be at this very moment.
With that said, today is national Root Beer Float Day, so lets give ourselves a treat that will cool us off as well as fuel us up for whatever may transpire this evening.

A cold Root Beer Float goes a long way when prepared correctly, especially when you add a little Grand Marnier & a slice of Orange to spruce it up ever so discretely.

Enjoy this while relaxing poolside or after a big fat BBQ lunch / dinner feast, it will make everything sit just perfectly in the stomach.

Ingredients:
1 orange
2 oz Grand Marnier
2 dashes Orange Bitters (found at most liquor /grocery stores or Bevmo!)
¾ cup root beer
1 oz heavy cream

Directions:
Use a vegetable peeler to remove a long piece of zest from the orange, working your way around the fruit.
Combine the bourbon and bitters in a tall glass.
Twist the orange zest over the glass to release the oils, then drop it in.
Fill the glass halfway with ice. Add the root beer.
Slowly pour the cream over the back of a spoon into the glass so it floats on top.

Enjoy!

National Cognac Day: The Classic Sidecar

This is a good drink to wake up too, like your Grandmothers old school Mimosa. Enjoy this one throughout your day especially while sitting poolside eating some fresh grilled shrimp.

National Cognac Day: The Incredible Hulk

Everybody talks about the infamous Incredible Hulk, but do they know how to make it? Here is the easiest recipe we had in the stash for this delightful drink.
Personally this is about the only time you will ever see me consume Hpnotiq, but with the addition of some good and faithful Hennessy this drink becomes, well Incredible.

Enjoy in moderation these much like our famous Mango / Hennessy shots are a super creeper that will have you feeling toasty warm out of no where.
