National Trail Mix Day - The Best Trail Mix You Have Ever Had, We Promise.

Everyone could use a bit of healthier eating in their lives. Well unfortunately for the most of us, the healthier food is usually the least attractive thing to eat. This recipe for Homemade Trail Mix includes deliciously healthy ingredients such as walnuts, pecans, raisins, apricots, cherries and more and is really simple to make.

With it being able to sit at room temperature without spoiling for a week or two you can make this in batches and have it to snack on throughout your day to help avoid eating multiple handfuls of whatever junk-food your currently consuming.

Dig In & Enjoy.

Ingredients:
2 cups granola (recommended: Hudson Valley Dessert Company)
¾ cups coarsely chopped pecans
¾ cups coarsely chopped walnuts
1 (3 ½-ounce) can flaked coconut (1 ½ cups)
½ cup sunflower seeds (shelled)
½ cup wheat germ
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
¼ cups vegetable oil
1 cup banana chips (roughly chopped)
½ cup dark raisins
½ cup golden raisins
½ cup dried cherries
½ cup dried apricots, diced
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
In large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except banana chips and raisins, cherries and apricots. Mix well.
Spread evenly in an aluminum foil-lined baking sheet. Bake 55 to 60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
Remove from oven; stir in banana chips, raisins, cherries and apricots.
Cool thoroughly.
Store tightly covered at room temperature.

*Packed with enough sweetness to entice just about everyone, the mix is also a great snack to put into your kids lunches to help save money and cut their junk food intake as well.*
